This was sitting on my Kindle when I was on a trip a few months ago and I needed something to read, so I hit this. I don't know how I acquired it, but there it was.
It could have been better.
I didn't realize how old the book was until I was quite a ways into it. I think that's a good thing, because it meant that the author didn't get too much into the specifics of technology - much of which either didn't exist yet when he wrote the book, or that has changed considerably since then. Some books don't hold up well over time because of that sort of thing.
I like the general idea behind it of a runaway artificial intelligence that networks with everything.
That said, it didn't hold up because it wasn't written well, and the author made some story decisions that were just bad.
While I like the general idea behind it of a runawawy artificial intelligence that networks with everything this particular execution of that generic plot was done poorly.
1/5 - I wish I had my time back from this.
